Biography

Mina Garrett-Scott, MD, loves family medicine and its vital role in individual and public health!

Dr. Scott is from Egg Harbor Township, NJ. She completed her undergraduate education at the University of Maryland, College Park in 1997 with a B.S. in Biology and joined the workforce in order to explore the world of biotechnology. She worked for The Institute for Genomic Research (TIGR) in Rockville, Maryland. After two years of bench work in molecular biology on the human genome project, she returned to student life in order to follow a career path that involved her two favorite subjects: medicine and public service.

Dr. Scott attended the University of Maryland, School of Medicine and graduated in 2003. She completed her residency and chief residency in Family Medicine at the University of Maryland, Department of Family and Community Medicine in Baltimore and one year of a faculty development fellowship at the University of Maryland, Department of Family and Community Medicine, exploring primary care research in public health.

Dr. Scott enjoys public speaking and community health education and advocacy. She practices with a firm belief in the importance of proactive, comprehensive, and continuous medical care. After five years of practicing primary care in Howell, New Jersey, she helped to grow a community medical center from the ground up, developing a medical home for nearly 20,000 patients. She relocated to the Washington D.C. Metro area in 2012 with her husband Frederick, an orthopedic surgeon in Fairfax, VA and her two small children, Tre and Marie.

She is excited to join Generations Family Practice, a family of providers with the same passion for providing a patient-centered medical home for generations of patients. She will also expand health education programs and community outreach for the practice.
